Welcome to 2007 and thanks for stopping by the www.shindigz.com website. You will be one of some one hundred thousand visitors we will see today and we appreciate your time. As you stop in, you may notice that we are a little different as a company. We are family owned—my wife Wendy and I work together in the business and we are proud to have over 400 fellow team members here all working to make your party the very best it can be. I hope your New Year was safe and meaningful.
Our family journeyed to northern Mexico where we had the opportunity to build a home over the span of 3 days for a family in a very poor area. All of our kids participated—from the 9 year old to the 12 year old to the 14 year old and we worked with other families to build this home for a single mother (the father had died 5 years ago) and her 3 children. What an extraordinary experience. It made us all so grateful for what we have and it was also wonderful to give back and help others.I know all of you may have done a similar activity or helped others in need such as in New Orleans and I think you know what I mean. Wendy had the chance to take the mother Sobrieda shopping to Wal-Mart for the first time in her life. Needless to say, the van was full when they returned. The project was called “Homes for Hope” and if you are interested it is run by an organization called “Youth With a Mission”. You can reach them at www.ywam.org if you want more information. Tell them Shep sent you!
So, as we start this new year, we are counting our blessings as a family and we look forward to a 2007 where our new friends in
mexico will sleep in a new home warm and safe. Be well.
