Cool and Trendy Homecoming Theme Ideas

Homecoming is all about the students, so shouldn’t the party be all about the students’ interests? We think so! Make this year’s homecoming something everyone will be talking about for a long time by using the latest trends as the theme!

Up, Up, and Away!

Thor

Superheroes are very popular right now. There has almost always been a superhero movie in theaters or coming to theaters in the past few years. Superheroes allow us to imagine a world where people can obtain extraordinary abilities and be a beacon of hope to all of humanity against the forces of evil. Create that feeling at this year’s homecoming! A very popular superhero movie that just came out is the Avengers. Why not make this year “Avengers”-themed? There are many other superheroes to use as themes, as well, but if you’re looking for a more general superhero party, no worries! Make the event about superheroism in general. You could even use the theme of “Everyone’s a Supehero,” where the guests can be superheroes for the night.

Fantasy: The Unrestrained Imagination

What are your fantasies? Medieval adventure? Magical encounters? Travels in space? Let imaginations run free at this year’s homecoming with a fantasy theme. Guests can be a great king or queen, a mighty knight, a cunning mage, or even an adventurous astronaut! Why not all of the above? Create a land of many fantasies all combined into one big adventure. To escape to a world where your biggest and most glorious ideas come to life is a possibility that you give your guests for the night.

The Sky Is Falling!

Doomsday theories are very popular right now, especially with the Mayan 2012 Doomsday theory. Make this homecoming an End of the World theme! There are all kinds of theories out there, which makes for many possible apocalyptic settings. Scare the guests with a zombie apocalypse or turn out the lights with a blackout apocalypse. Set up a desolate city where your guests are the only survivors. Any one you choose, the apocalyptic feeling will be present and enjoyed by all!

Whether you’re feeling super, imaginative, or apocalyptic, these themes will make this homecoming the best yet. Stay creative and exciting!

Batman Decorations for a Super Party

Bat-and-Night-Personalized-BannerWith the newest Batman movie set to come out this summer, you’ll be a hit with kids of all ages when you host a Batman themed party!

This party is sure to be a big hit with children ages 4-10. We offer lots of decorations to set just the right tone for this theme, and to guarantee super-hero fun for everyone! Conniving criminals may be in the vicinity, but no fiendish foe will dare spoil the fun at this Batman party!

Outdoor decorations:
• Let guests know exactly where the battle of good vs. evil will begin by placing our crime-proof, weather-resistant Personalized Memories Bat Banner by the entrance to the party!  Just remember, no villains allowed!
• Our Lighted Bat Screen is also weather-resistant, and if you choose to use the Personalized Banner inside your party site, this makes an awesome outdoor decoration.
• Whether party guests are careening through the streets in the Batmobile or soaring high above the city, a bouquet of helium filled balloons attached to a light post or mailbox will let them know where the ultimate adventures of Batmantm will begin!

Indoor Decorations:
• Start your decorating with our Batmantm Begins Ensemble. This ensemble contains balloons, streamers, curling ribbon, bats, a Batman Mylar Balloon, and even a Piñata to match your theme.
• Afraid of nocturnal creatures?  Please beware…we’ve got bats everywhere! Add a strobe light and a fog machine to create an underworld atmosphere. If you have any special effects music, or the Batman soundtrack, the music will enhance your Batcave environment. The Bat Cave not only makes a fantastic backdrop for some priceless photos, but it will also provide a haven for countless hours of imaginative play for your young Batman fan.
•  Dangle and hang awesome bat decorations above serving tables, down hallways, and in the area where games and activities will take place.
• Balloons can economically transform any room into a festive space in a matter of minutes by using some of the following ideas:
-Tie curling ribbon to helium filled balloons and group them together. (Odd numbers look best: three, five or seven) Place groupings of balloons around the party room.
-Tie a bunch of helium filled balloons to the birthday child’s chair or tie one balloon to the back of each chair.
-If you choose not to use helium, tie balloons to varying lengths of curling ribbon, and hang balloons from the ceiling or from a light fixture over the party table.
• Streamers offer an economical way to splash lots of color around the site of the party.  The streamers can be twisted after they are anchored to a ceiling wall or table for a more dimensional look. They also look terrific hanging from doorframes or cascading vertically down walls.

Table Decorations & Napkins:
• Setting a table with the party ware, including the tablecloth, cups, plates, napkins, and cutlery, is the fastest way to create a focal point in a room. Start by setting your table with all the goodies in our Dark Knight Tableware Ensemble, creating a place setting at the table for each birthday guest.  Add one or a few of the following touches to personalize your table:
• Display your birthday cake in the center of the table…the kids will love the close up view!
• Order black or red napkins and have them imprinted with your party slogan and the design of your choice. Select a blue ink or metallic imprint. The napkins will serve several purposes…great decorating in disguise and a treasured memento for the birthday boy’s scrapbook. Try one of the following ideas to liven up your table:
-Unfold the napkins, pinch each in the center of the napkin and place the center point in the bottom of each cup from the Batman Begins Ensemble. This adds a festive touch while the cups are still empty.
-Tie napkins with curling ribbon and place in the center of each plate at an angle. Fold wings of pape flying bats (accordian style) at the points to create a 3-D look, and write each guest’s name on a bat. Use a hole punch to punch a hole in the end of a wing, and add one bat to the top of each bundle.  The cutlery can also be added before the napkin is tied with ribbon.

• “Holy Cake and Ice Cream…Chase is turning 7!”
• “Come and Party with the Caped Crusader and Austin!”
• “Party at the Batcave!”
• “Join us for a Gotham City Gathering…we’re celebrating Trent’s 5th Birthday!”
Invitations:

Choose one of the following invitations to let your young guests know what a Masked and Marvel-ous time they will have at the party:

• Our unique design invitation provides another alternative, and can be imprinted with your personalized party slogan, along with an image of a bat…you name it, and we’ll print it for you!  Consider attaching a paper flying bat with some curling ribbon to the invite. For the location, specify that the party will be held at the Batcave!

Involve the adults attending the party too…none of us have ever outgrown the childhood fantasy of saving the world from impending doom! We have a terrific selection of children’s and adult superheroes costumes to choose from.

Cake Ideas for a Batman Party

Bat Static ClingsWith the newest Batman movie set to come out this summer, you’ll be a hit with kids of all ages when you host a Batman themed party!

This easy-to-create Bat cake is sure to please all your little superheroes!
What you’ll need:
• 10″ round cake pan
• 1 cake mix
• 2 – 16 oz. containers of ready-made frosting (Start with chocolate frosting as opposed to a white frosting, because black frosting may taste bitter if you add too much food coloring.  The chocolate frosting is easy to tint black, and the taste will not become bitter.)
• Black paste or gel food coloring
• 2-1″ Plastic Wiggle eyes
• 1-Black Pipe Cleaner to create antenae
• Cake board
• Bat Confetti (optional)

Bake cake according to directions on the package. After the cake cools completely, place in the freezer.  After the cake is frozen, cut the cake into a bat shape.  Cutting and frosting are much easier with a frozen cake, and you’ll avoid most of the crumbs created by a cut edge when frosting the sides.  Frost the entire bat shape with the black frosting.  Add wiggle eyes.  Bend pipe cleaner into a “V”-like shape, and curl top ends.  Add this to the top of the bat head.

Because you are cutting the cake into a shape, you will be discarding some of the cake, and will need to adjust the size accordingly. If you are serving more people than can be accommodated by two boxed mixes, we recommend that you bake extra cupcakes.  Simply frost the cupcakes with black frosting, and add one Batman Begins Bat-A-Rang (from the Favor Packs) to the top of each cupcake.

Food:
• Super Heroes eat hearty meals when they are on duty! Serve “Penguin Poppers” (Pizza Rolls, Chicken Nuggets) or “Penquin Pizza”, “Catwoman Claws” (Bugles for claw-like fingertips), “Mr. Freeze Cream” (Ice Cream), “Harlequin Hamburgers”, or “Two-Faced Sandwiches” (half of each ingredient on each side). Have your little Bat-fan help you name foods as a nod to Batman’s foes and friends.  Guests will marvel at the feat you’ve easily conquered!  Write the names of the food on Bat Static Clings with a paint pen or permanent marker, and wrap the clings around bowls or platter edges.
• Offer some “Poison Ivy Potion” as a beverage. Guests will be spellbound when they witness your power to turn an ordinary beverage into a drink that transforms! Start with green punch. After you have placed a filled glass in front of each guest, add a few Pop Rocks™ candies to each one. Since this candy is processed with carbon dioxide, it will crackle, pop, and spit when it comes into contact with a liquid.
• Don’t feel obligated to serve a meal as most kids ages 4-9 will only stop long enough to eat cake and ice cream. If you aren’t serving a meal, serve some snacking treats that will be sure to power-up your guests.  Acknowledge the danger that lurks within Batman’s world by serving dry snacks in an upside down Top Hat…Penquin’s favorite accessory!
