Today’s tips are for photographers.

Did you know Shindigz has a ton of quick sets, backdrops, stand up cut outs, and so much more for any photo shoot? Whether you’re doing class photos, a wedding, or anything in between, we have something perfect for your toolbox.

Shindigz understands that a natural backdrop of trees, a mountain view, or a brilliant skyline isn’t always available. But that doesn’t mean you can’t create a wonderful setting for your subjects. You can imagine you’re in a forest with the forest backdrop.

Taking holiday card photos months in advance and need a winter setting? You could try a winter wonderland room setter to get in the holiday spirit.

Taking pictures at an engagement party or prom? Why not use the heart patterned corrugated paper as a backdrop. It’s so sweet and romantic, and it’s also available in solids and stripes. For something bigger and more glamorous, try a hollywood entrance. That’ll set the tone for your party.

Need a simple backdrop for professional headshots? Choose from the excellent selection at Shindigz. A metallic background will be simple and not distracting, while creating a hint of magic.

Hosting a crazy party and want to add a little spice or silliness? Try a photo stand in cut out. Shindigz has over 250 to choose from and you can personalize them any way you want. They’re perfect for kids’ parties or fundraisers.

If all else fails, make everyone look like a super hero and call it a day!

Customers Share Their Personalized Standee Stories

Life-Sized-Photo-Standee-in-useOur Life Size Standees and Personalized Photo Standees make great decorations for your parties, whether they’re for weddings, anniversary parties, milestone birthdays, or graduations, there’s so many ways you can turn a favorite photo of a loved one into a life size photo standee, making a fun photo prom and a great keepsake.

ShindigZ customers have found a ton of uses for photo standees and have shared some of the ways these personalized decorations have been a hit at their special events.

Some customers have used Life Size Standees in big birthday parties, to celebrate important moments in the guest of honor’s life. For example, Penelope from Michigan ordered a standee for her husband’s birthday. She commented, “I did a life size of my husband running his first marathon…It was a great decoration for his 40th birthday several weeks later.”

Life-Sized-Photo-Standee-Customer-PhotoCarol from Ft. Wayne, IN had several Photo Standees made for her father’s 75th birthday. She wrote to us, “What an impact these photos were at my dad’s 75th birthday party in Chicago! I wish we would have ordered even more of them. We staged them around the house. All of his friends, children, and grandchildren loved them!”

Standees have also been a popular item for anniversary parties. We can make Photo Standees and Life Size Standees out of older photos too, so they make really impressive decorations when customers have used old wedding photos. Lori from International Falls, MN ordered a standee for her parents’ anniversary party: “I recently purchased one of my parents for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. The standee will be next to the kneeler they had knelt at on their wedding day. A wonderful additon to the decor.”

Another customer from Palmetto, FL used a wedding photo from 1944 to make a Life Size Standee: “[I] wanted a special prop for a 65th Anniversary party and ordered a life-size standee, scanned a colorized 1944 wedding photo and uploaded to ShindigZ. I was astounded at the quality and attention to detail. The end product was so good that we’re giving photos of the guests with the standees and the anniversary couple as mementos.”

Lori also used a standee for her son’s graduation party. She commented that many guests wanted to take her son’s picture with “himself” in the standee. Our standees make great props for commemorative photos and are definitely fun decorations for kids and graduates.

One customer from Memphis, TN used some Life Size Standees in a send-off party for a soldier. She wrote to us, “The two life-size standees of my godson, who is returning to service in Iraq soon, were fabulous! They absolutely MADE his send-off party, and we sent them home with his fiancée and his mom, so they could have “him” there while he’s away overseas!” This touching use of Photo Standees is just one of many ways standees can be used to enhance special moments.

Invite Guests to Celebrate with Engagement Party Invitations

Gateway to Destiny InvitationAn engagement party is a wonderful celebration of a couple’s decision to spend the rest of their lives together as husband and wife. This event should be a very happy occasion with close friends and family together to share in the excitement! An engagement party is generally hosted by the bride’s parents, however, it is acceptable for the bride and groom to host their own celebration. This type of party does not require the guests to bring gifts, only their congratulations! Here are a couple of fun invitation ideas that are sure to add to the celebrating!

Scan an individual picture of each of the bride and groom onto the front of a card. Draw a faint line diagonally across the both pictures (like you are X-ing them out). On the inside of the card scan a picture of them together and say, “Let’s give our congratulations to Katie and Chris on their decision to join together forever.”

Glue a piece of heavy string tied in a knot to the front of a blank card. On the inside say, “Laura and Jeremy decided to tie the knot – let’s help them celebrate!”

If you opt for an invitation that is formally printed and not homemade, the Gateway To Destiny Invitation is the perfect one to send for this type of event!

Decorate for a Beautiful Engagement Celebration

Will You Marry Me Personalized BannerThe decorations that you choose for your engagement party really depend on your own personal preference. For example, you could have a cocktail party, a dinner party, a casual BBQ, a brunch – anything goes! One thing that might make the planning a bit easier is if you select a theme for the party such as a Beach Party, Nautical Cruise or a Western BBQ. If you decide to go without a theme, we would recommend selecting two or three colors to serve as your theme colors. These can be your wedding colors, if you have decided on these already. Once you have settled on the scheme, your decorating job is a whole lot easier!

Outdoor Decorations
• Luminaries are a beautiful and economical way of adding a romantic touch to any location. They are especially nice to use for an evening event where you want to greet your guests with a bit of elegance!
• Twinkle lights add a lot of atmosphere when placed in trees, shrubs, and other outside plants.
• Fresh flowers and loose petals look beautiful and also add a fragrant aroma to the air!
• Lighted round paper lanterns really set the mood for dancing under the stars!

Indoor Decorations

If you want to really focus on the couple, you could enlarge some photos at a copy store and hang them around the room. Choose cute photos – some romantic, some embarrassing, some baby shots, etc.

If you are decorating a large area, or want to make any area look more intimate and festive, drape and swag our gossamer across ceilings, walls, and the edges of table skirting. Twist two colors together for a stunning look. The gossamer drapes so beautifully, that if your room is softly lit, it will have an ethereal glow.
• Never underestimate the power of decorating with balloons as they can transform any size room into a cozy space at a very low cost. You can choose to inflate balloons with helium, but that is not your only option. In order to save money, inflate hundreds of balloons in colors to match your theme without using helium. Tie a 6-8 foot piece of curling ribbon to the end of each one. Using scotch tape, masking tape, or straight pins, hang balloons down from the ceiling so they hang at different lengths. Curl the loose end of the ribbon with scissors.
• A cute balloon that would add love into the air of your celebration is a diamond ring mylar balloon. These would be especially adorable tied to the chairs of the guests of honor.

Table Decorations & Napkins:

Balloon Centerpieces
Personalized Graphics Photo Banner• Balloons are an affordable and easy product to use to create lovely centerpieces. Select balloons and curling ribbon to match your theme colors. Inflate the balloons (always use an odd number – 3, 5 or 7) with helium and let the colorful bouquets float above the table. Make sure the balloons float well above eye level so guests can easily see each other across the table. Secure the balloons by tying the ribbons to Mylar-covered weights, floral vases, upside-down top hats, or other theme-related items. If you prefer not to use helium, attach the balloons to balloon sticks and holders and create a bouquet with balloons. Fill a simple vase, metallic tote bag, or other colorful base with metallic shred, gemstones or brightly colored tissue.

Candle Centerpieces
• Place three or more votive candleholders (clear, frosted or cracked ice) in the center of your tables or clustered together at evenly spaced intervals on a banquet type table. You can increase your brilliant light by placing a mirror under one or two of the votives. Place the other candles around the mirror and enjoy twice as much flickering light from the reflection. To add a bit more glitz and glimmer, sprinkle confetti or place gemstones around the votives. These will also reflect the light and add sparkle to your tables. Use a confetti color that coordinates with your theme colors. Finish off your centerpieces with your choice of votive candle color. Choose the color that works best with your color scheme and enjoy the fabulous scent that will fill the air! A second option to consider is to use tapered candles. The elegant lines of taper candles can dress up any table. We recommend grouping them together in odd numbers. At the base of the taper candles, place greenery, gemstones, wired garland, puddled gossamer or confetti. Place fresh flower petals around the candles for a romantic touch. If an enclosed flame is a must, try decorative lamps. These lamps can be personalized with the date and theme of the wedding or can be left unimprinted. Place at the center of each table with flower petals, ivy strands, confetti or curled ribbon scattered at the base.
• Floating candles make a beautiful centerpiece for any table. Delicate candles in the shape of flowers can easily be placed in bowls, snifters or other wide mouth glassware pieces. Simply fill each candle bowl with water (about halfway) and place a floating flower candle in each bowl. Add color to the centerpieces by placing a sprig of greenery or colorful confetti around the base of the glass. Add a few drops of food coloring to the water if you wish to tint it to match your theme colors. Another color option is to add gemstones inside the glass container.
• Order personalized napkins and have them imprinted with your party slogan and design of your choice. Select a metallic or foil imprint. The napkins will serve several purposes – great decorating in disguise and a delightful memento of the party that can be saved in scrapbooks for years to come!

*Napkins can be laid out on a buffet table, or displayed at each place setting.

*Place napkins in the center of each place setting at an angle, or unfold them and place them in glassware for a tall dramatic look. *The napkins can also be tied and bundled with plastic cutlery with a multitude of items to match your theme. Try curling ribbon, gossamer streamers, or garters.

Activities for a Fantastic Engagement Party

Ashley-Photo-AlbumThere will definitely be many toasts that are made over the course of the evening, normally starting with the announcement of the engagement by the bride’s father. The groom typically follows by responding with a toast to his fiancé.

Here are few other creative options to help get all of the guests highly involved in the celebration and anticipation of the big day!

• Have the guests come up with a “Number One Rule” of wedding arrangements or marriage. This should be their own words of wisdom or advice mixed with some humor. To make it more interesting, award a prize to the winner!
• You could ask each guest to make predictions for the couple’s future. Take turns saying, “In 10 (20, 30, 40, 50) years time, I think you will…” You will be surprised with the things people come up with!
• Have everyone at the party tell a little story about the couple. “I Remember When…” could start each person’s story. This will definitely bring a lot of laughs!
• As a group, create a couple’s scrapbook or photo collage of the couple. Ask each guest to bring photos of the couple for the project and then present it to the couple at the end of the night.
