Relaxing Father’s Day Party Ideas

Time to Plan Your Relaxing Father’s Day Party

With Father’s Day slowly approaching (it’s June 17th), it’s definitely time to start planning a fun party.  To show the special Dad in your life just how much he means to you, plan a nice, relaxing Father’s Day party.  Because you have a lot of time to plan (at least, you have a lot of time if you start planning now), you can choose from a wide variety of parties.  Generally, most people plan a fun backyard barbecue for Father’s Day. This year, try pulling out other ideas—look at your dad’s favorite sports.  No matter what sport he follows the most, there are all sorts of party ideas buried.

Relaxing Father’s Day Backyard Barbecue

The standard fun party idea for Father’s Day is a cookout.  While dads are usually the grill men, give him the option this year.  Either let Mom cook, or (if he wants to) give Dad his place at the grill.  The catch this year is that Dad has to wear a chef’s hat and an apron decorated by his loving family.

When you start planning what food will be appearing at your Father’s Day backyard barbecue, think about your dad’s favorite foods.  Pick his favorite main dish, a few of his favorite sides, and make his favorite dessert.  If he wants to be a part of the food preparation (if he maybe has a new seasoning he wants to try or something along those lines) and the cooking, let him.  Don’t refuse to let him be a part of the fun.  It’s his day; he can do whatever he wants!

Father’s Day Sports Party

If your dad wants to just sit and watch sports for awhile on Father’s Day, let him!  Suggest that he invite a few other dads and guys over to join him!  However, after a few hours, try to remind him that he needs to get up and about, maybe go outside and get some fresh air.  The catch is: while he’s been sitting inside watching sports with his friends, you and the kids have been outside, maybe conspiring with the families of the friends he’s watching sports with, and decorate your backyard before beckoning Dad outside.  Watch his face when he walks into a backyard sports party!  Whether his favorite sport is baseball, basketball, football, golf, or racing, he’ll be shocked to see his backyard transformed into a Father’s Day party place!  Even within each of those Father’s Day party themes, there are other choices to be had: use his favorite team as a jumping-off point; pick either car racing or the Kentucky derby; you can even plan activities for the party!  Remember, though, it’s your job to make sure it’s a relaxing day for the dad in your life as well as a chance for you and your family to show him how much you love him.  Happy Father’s Day party planning!

Fabulous Father’s Day Festivities

Finding the perfect gift for your father can seem like a daunting task, so don’t spend that precious time on the decorations and supplies for the big party!  We here at Shindigz want to make your Father’s Day festivities a breeze so you can focus your time on what’s important—your family!

Start by making a list of your father’s favorite things and hobbies—some might include golf, sports, reading, swimming, or cooking! If you’re having a party for your entire family which includes several fathers, pick one of your themes that will “cover” the mix of the crowd. Depending on the theme you choose, you have several options:

Organize Your Company’s Golf Outing

Ordering Golf Outing Party Supplies

Life throws enough hooks and slices your way, so when I volunteered to organize the company golf outing, I wanted help to hit it straight down the middle.  I found the fairway with Shindigz’ on-line, golf party supplies store.  We really had fun organizing our golf outing!

Pre-Golf Outing Ideas

We started by setting up a fake golf hole in the lobby a few weeks before the event.  We placed grass mats on the floor and asked co-workers and guests to putt the hole during their lunch breaks.  Nearby, one of the ladies sat at a table with a personalized banner and sold printed tickets to our charity outing.

Clever Golf Party Favors

On the day of the event, the golf club favor box was a sure hit. A sleeve of golf balls, tees, and other favors fit perfectly in the box and I had the company logo printed on the front of the box.  It was all made to order and shipped in only 4 business days.

Simple Golf Outing Decorations

Next, we enhanced the tables at the award presentation. The personalized golf ball mylar balloons with the company logo at each table made the party special.  We awarded the balloons, personalized golf candy bars, and green M & M candies as prizes.  Also, very helpful were these golf party planning ideas, food ideas and other helpful planning hints to save me time and money.  We look forward to next year’s company event!

Shindigz Sponsors 35th Junior PGA Golf Championship

Junior PGA Championship

35th Junior PGA Championship at Sycamore Hills

The 35th Junior PGA Championship will take place August 2-5, 2010, Fort Wayne, Indiana at Sycamore Hills Golf Club. It will be the first Junior PGA Championship to be contested in Indiana. Shindigz is a major sponsor for this golf event.

“Our 34-year tradition of offering the country’s top junior golfers a premier Championship venue will continue as The PGA of America brings the 2010 Junior PGA Championship to Sycamore Hills Golf Club,” said PGA President Jim Remy. “The Jack Nicklaus Signature design will present the nation’s top-ranked juniors a great challenge on which to display their talents.”

Perhaps the finest golf club in the Midwest, Sycamore Hills opened its doors in 1989. The course, first deeded by Andrew Jackson in 1835, is marked by generous fairways, peninsula greens, waste bunkers and white sand. Sycamore Hills is ranked No. 93 in Golf Digest’s “America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses for 2009-10,” and also ranks No. 63 on Golf Digest’s “Top 100 Greatest Practice Facilities for 2009-10.”

If the 2010 Junior PGA Championship is anything like past versions of the Junior PGA Championship, fans, golfers, and officials are in store for a week of thrilling golf. The 2009 Junior PGA Championship, played at TPC River’s Bend in Maineville, Ohio was won by T.J. Vogel (boys’ division) and Alexis Thompson (girls’ division). In fact, for Thompson, who made a lot of noise on the LPGA Tour this summer, it was the second time she captured the Patty Berg Trophy (awarded to the winner of the girls’ division of the Junior PGA Championship). Just 14-years-old, Thompson won her first Junior PGA Championship in 2007 at the age of 12.

Begun in 1976, The Junior PGA Championship has traditionally produced unforgettable golf performances and brings together the best junior golfers from around the country to compete for the Jack Nicklaus Trophy in the boys’ division and the Patty Berg Trophy in the girls’ division.

Throw A Golf Themed Party To Celebrate The Season

It’s the perfect time of year to head out and whack a few golf balls around on the green. If you’re a golf fan, then why not celebrate this beloved sport with a golf party?

There are plenty of golf themed party surprise to make your party one for the books. For starters, you’ll want to hang up a giant banner announcing the shindig. Make sure it’s decorated with golf tees and clubs!

Of course, you’ll want to dress up the inside of your home as well. Mylar balloons with phrases like “FOUR!” on them will really do the trick.

Tell your pals to come over dressed in their best golfing gear. This means plaid pants, cardigans and of course goofy hats! You can even get a hat and tie adorned with golf balls.

If you plan to make a cake for this fiesta, go all out and get a golf themed cake decorating set. Golf ball candles and little putters will make your sweet treat a huge hit.

When your bash is coming to a close, pass out some fantastic party favors. Bead necklaces, silly string or a personalized travel mug will help your guests remember this wild and unique theme party.
