Hat Party Invitations for Fun Guests

Hat Party HatsAre you ready to throw a wild and crazy, off-the-wall kind of hoopla? If you are, then a hat party is a great choice! Whether you have kids involved or you keep it as an adult-only party is completely up to you, but either way, this theme is sure to be a huge hit!

Be sure to tell your guests to wear all black or all white and be prepared to lavish them up with brightly colored hats and accessories once they arrive! You may want to dare them to wear their own hat creations or unique hats they already have to really see what kind of flamboyant flare your friends really do have!

Invitation Ideas:

With a brightly colored Sharpie®, write the party details on Propeller Beanies and hand deliver them to your invitees.

Have us print up all your details on a Black Mirror Brite Invitation. To add the bit of pizzazz that a hat party deserves, hot glue a few brightly colored feathers (found at a craft shop) to the top back edge of the invitation.

Hats Off to Hat Party Decorations

Hat Party BannerThe most essential decorations for a hat party are, of course, the decorations that you put ON your guests! Be sure to stock up on all kinds of fun accessories including:

• Wild and Crazy Hats of all sorts
• Feather Boas
• Beads
• Leis
• Funky Glasses

Outdoor Decorations:
• Greet your guests with a Hat Party Personalized Banner hanging across your front entrance.
• Go crazy with brightly colored latex balloons - hang them from your lamp post, mailbox, front porch, and at your front door.

Indoor Decorations:
• Decorate your room by draping brightly colored boas and leis across tables, mantles, doorways, stairways and more!
• Hang hats from the ceiling and group them together as wall art.
• Hang brightly colored metallic curtains from your doorframes and watch your guests as they make their way through with extra large hats on their heads!
• Scatter beads across your tables and place an assortment of wild glasses in the center.
• Create a background for pictures by hanging black flat paper on a large blank wall. Line the paper with brightly colored balloons to serve as a “frame” in the photos. Once all the picture snapping is done, let the guests doodle and draw with some vibrant banner paints!
• Balloons can economically transform any room, backyard or park into a festive space in a matter of minutes by using some of the following ideas:
-Use a helium tank to fill balloons. Tie curling ribbon to balloons, and group them together (odd numbers look best: 3, 5, or 7). Place groupings of balloons around the party room.
-If you choose not to use helium, tie balloons to varying lengths of curling ribbon, and hang balloons from the ceiling or from a light fixture over the party table.
• Streamers offer an economical way to splash lots of color around the site of the party. Create a fun and colorful effect by draping streamers from the center of the ceiling to the walls on each side of the room or between trees if the party is being held outdoors. The streamers can be twisted after they are anchored to a ceiling wall or table for a more dimensional look. Two different colored streamers can be placed back to back and twisted for a unique look. They also look terrific hanging from doorframes or cascading vertically down walls.

Table Decorations:

• Cover your tables with a bright shade of table covering and coordinate your plates and napkins with a complimentary bright color. Mix and match your colors for a vibrant look.
• Line up those crazy hats down the center of your table and weave a feather boa down the middle.
• Use different themed glassware on your table to add to the whackiness!

“Too much” is never an appropriate term for this fun party, so almost anything goes! Be sure to stick with fun, bold colors and go wild with the accessories on your bodies as well as your party site!

Activities for a Hilarious Hat Party

Dr. Seuss™ Make Silly Hats Craft KitHere are a few ideas for things to do besides eating yummy food, drinking fun festive drinks, and dancing the night away:

Play a fun game of charades but have all the ideas somehow related to a hat. For example, Abraham Lincoln (tall hat), or the Queen of England (tiara) would be great ideas. Songs, movies, and books with a hat in the title are also perfect - like The Cat in a Hat! Don’t forget to have your guests pull the ideas out of a hat - what else?

Send your guests out in groups on a fun scavenger hunt! Either have them stay in the neighborhood or hop in their cars - your choice, but here is how it works: Give each team a disposable camera and a list of pictures they must snap - making sure to have the team members adorning their hats in all of the photos. Here are some ideas of pictures to look for: team member holding a cat, someone wearing rollerskates, with someone in a robe, with someone in a swimming suit, a team member on a bike, with a fireman, etc. Make up your own fun pictures based on your surrounding areas. Give the teams a time limit and when time is up - go drop the cameras off at the local one-hour photo store so the photos can be done before the night is out. Give gifts for the best pictures, the most photos finished, and the most creative photography!

Hold a fashion show or a whacky contest and vote on the most original. Be sure to have your cameras ready for this action!

If you have kids blessing your presence at this party, keep them busy with a Dr. Seuss Silly Hat Craft Kit.

Play this game using the same concept as the classic game of musical chairs…one less hat than there are kids for each round. Place a pile of Hats on a table that the kids must walk around while the music is playing. When the music is turned off, the kids must scramble to grab a hat. The child without a hat must leave the game, and the game continues with one less hat until there is one child remaining. The kids will giggle when you proclaim to the winner, “Hat’s all folks!”
